Yup, I'm On It

For those of you interested in such things, I'm on Facebook (under username triviaguymike, since there are 500+ Mike Horns on it). I do not post much, and I do not join mafias or vampire clubs, but I do enjoy it, nonetheless.

VFW: Many Have Fallen

Tonight's picture round was a tribute to the Freshly Dead, including new inductee Karl Malden (Karl Marx+Malcolm X+Dennis Weaver, that is). The B52s, last week's 7th place team, charged to a 16 point victory. I't Just a Freakin' Game had their best showing in a while, placing second, right ahead of the dynamic duo of D&M. Chix and Dix had a rough night, but recovered in the last round enough to take fourth. There was a tie between Liquor In Paradise and KB for fifth, which put This Just In: Britney Spears OD'ed and Is Number 8 in the key seventh spot (Ironically, they had won the game at Chuckles just four days ago). They have chosen the HBO series Entourage as next week's theme.

What Are You Doing Friday Night?

You can catch one of my favorite local bands, The Greatest Funeral Ever, at Rosa Rosa on Harrisburg Pike in Lancaster this Friday, July 3rd at 10 P.M.

Bube's: All Hail Steve!

Tonight's big news was the celebration of Steve's birthday. Donna and 75 other members of You Can't Fix Stupid helped to celebrate the blessed event. And they also celebrated by not coming in their traditional fourth or seventh place spots. (They came in sixth!) My Nutsack Is the Hardest Part led all night, but stumbled in the last round to third. That allowed the Tony Danza Slap to leap from sixth to second and the Toxic Olives took the gold. Gawky Domino, a team from Cafe Chuckles, just missed third. The Cogitators were fifth and the Renal Cosmonauts are next week's theme pickers. They want Andy Griffith vs. Leave It To Beaver.

Ninetendo 64!!! was a fun new team from E-town.

My Corn Is Far Away was exiled to the suburban table.

Gawky Domino, featuring a mystery woman whose knee you can see in the bottom left, made the trek from Lancaster and missed the money by one lousy point.

If You're Not First, You're Last came in neither first nor last.

The Cogitators were hard at work thinking of ways to turn their electronic Whack-a-Mole into a drinking game.

Chuckles: Beware of Falling Luggage

Josh, Matt and Michelle, AKA Prescription Drugs and Falling Luggage honored Billy Mays by erupting in the last round, getting 9 out of 10. That propelled them to the top spot, 8 points ahead of Yank My Doodle, It's a Dandy. The Miami Blades also had a great night, placing third. Ubersmack was two points behind them, followed by Fritzless with a Side of jean and Skirtland. Gawky Domino are next week's theme-pickers, and they are going with M*A*S*H.

More Recommended Music

Baltimore singer/songwriter and long-time trivia supporter Damion Wolfe will be making a rare Lancaster appearance and will be opening for folk musician Martin Sexton tonight (June 25th) at the Chameleon Club. Damion's set starts around 8 (doors open at 7). If you purchase your tickets at the door, tell them that you're there to see Damion, sine we'd like for him to get some return engagements at the Club. Thanks!

VFW: Special Guest Night

Tonight a couple of the teams had special guests for a night of Tour de France and Philly sports trivia. We're Here for the Beer, for example, had Colette and George.

Frank ate his teammate Kevin, so this is a pic of tonight's winning team, Brown Chicken, Brown Cow.

Karen and Bob recruited their son and a disembodied shoulder, who helped them win second place.

Always topical, this week they were Mark Sanford's Travel Agents and placed third.

Room Two, featuring special guest Terry.

2-H demands that I grade them on a curve.

The B52s are choosing the European Theater of World War II as next week's theme.

Sheila is doing her Bullwinkle impression again.

Mets Suck! aced all the Philadelphia team questions.

Dennis and Mel are holding down their end of the bar.

Carmen is ready for her close-up.

Bube's: Zombie Ed McMahon

Even though the Ed MacMahon Was Here team could not identify him on the picture sheet, they still managed to win first place after newbie Tim beat Becky of the Toxic Olives in the Jack-off™. Night of the Living Nutsacks were third, while the Tuscaloosa Dumpling duo was fourth. One Ball Paul was right behind, and one point behind them was Puff N Suds. You Can't Fix Stupid won both theme choice and a six pack of red velvet whoopie pies.

Alan returned to help Ashley and George Romero's favorite film school student, Josh.

In a self-fulfilling prophecy, You Can't Fix Stupid once again landed in seventh place. They are going with Tom Petty as their theme choice for next week (Not to be confused with Richard Petty, which is a totally different subject).

The Toxic Olives brought along some re-enforcements.

The Tony Danza Slap also brought along some new peeps.

One Ball Paul and the Rhythm Disciples returned to the scene of the crime.

Puck and Rachel made their semi-annual trek to Mount Joy and placed fourth, one question away from the money.

Ladies Life of Leisure, featuring their erect rose.
