Chuckles: Year-End Bag Sale!

Jack of the Assassins had Monday off, so he brought his team and some of Billy Warmth's Thursday night players along with him (extra special guest star Alan was just along for the photo shoot). Getting their Scottish poets mixed up cost them the game, but they did come in third. The defending Amoebas were second and Half of One, Six Dozen of Another placed first.

I got rid of a ton of unwanted prizes, since it was Bottom of the Bag night. Fritz suggested that we keep going with the unwanted theme, so next week I encourage you to bring any unwanted Christmas presents that you received and we'll recycle them into the Trashbag of Deelite (Al Gore would be so proud of us!)
Ben of Skirtland claimed that I never take their picture, so here's a shot of them (with Alan in the role of Alan). They were only one question behind third place and six points behind second.
The snowbirding G2G (or Golf to Gulf) team were up from Florida to visit their son, and did really well for their frst time out, placing seventh. They chose the Pittsburgh Steelers as their sweater-inspired theme.
George of the Talent Scouts was the "lucky" winner of the rest of the Trashbag of Deelite, shown here (beers not included). In the spirit of next week's re-giftathon, he said he was giving them all out as doorprizes at his office party (except for the booklight, which he had already broken).

Chuckles: All the Creatures Were Stirring

Jason and Nick of We Can Win...With Tickets brought along some re-enforcements and missed seventh place by only one question on the special all-Christmas, all-the-time night of trivia. Skirtland got to pick and they chose doo-wop as their theme. (That theme has now been officially retired since we've had it three times.)
Paul and Tia joined the Lethal Amoebas and took home the gold.
The Priceless team were abetted by fellow Millersville alumni Bob and took second.
The Talent Scouts have gotten their mojo back, cracking the top three in the last three weeks.
The Talent Scouts were so large this week that they started their own farm team, the Magnificent Wigballafunulvens. That's special guest star Alan of Skirtland in the background.
The Twin Roses wish everyone a lava-licious Christmas!
Deric of F-Christmas Ubersmack was shocked to hear it was Sam's last Sunday night at Chuckles.

Ambucs: Where Are The Dancing Girls?

Normally the Lititz Ambucs chapter has a local high school dancing choir perform at their annual Christmas social. But since the date was so late this year, the choir could not be assembled. So Clyde and Frank hired me to perform at the soiree, and it went over very well (despite the fact that I neither sang nor danced). The law firm of Lehman, Shelley and Anderson finally managed to win some trashbag prizes in the last round. The Eye Poppers, led by Mel, had to settle for some glow-in-the-dark dinosaurs. Clyde and Dick's team, Stinkattrivia, were true to their name, but they were better than Frank's team, the Three Wise Men and their Ho Ho Hos. The main slugfest was between the Humbugs and Al's Pals (as in Al Roker). But Al (AKA Rick, on the right in the back row above, in case you needed help) and his friends led the entire night and won all the poinsettias by two points.

VFW: The New Zoo Revue

Amy and Matt's uber-team The Heavy Petting Zoo squeaked by the Silent Knights and Chicks and Dicks, winning by one point on our special holiday show. Then Carmen lost the Captain Jack-off to Dave. Carmen was consoled by making a CD sale to Mel, who was impressed with her Christmas CD, which we played between rounds. D&M and M&S both were only two questions away from first, so once again we had a very close night.

Reminder: there will be no trivia next week (December 26th), but we will be back January 2nd. I hope everyone has a safe and blessed Christmas and see you in 2008!
And here's the other half of the Zoo. (This picture is brought to you by MIller Lite©)
Jerry, winner of the teapot for one, looks on as Mixed Company debates what their theme choice will be. It was toss-up between US Geography, John Wayne movies or some obscure British sitcom that only Bruce has ever seen (which I vetoed). In the end, they chose Elvis Presley songs. In addition, we still have last week's choice, hockey rules (which I totally forgot about. Sorry, Frank).

Bube's: Happy as a Clam

The Clams (AKA Why Is THAT Besh Here?) had a grand time at our special holiday show, placing third, only one point behind the second place Toxic Olives and three points behind Andy Pettitte's Shrunken Nutsack. Schrute Farms, $2 Jingle Balls, I Won a Math Debate and the Tony Danza Slap! were all within two questions of the money positions, so it was an extremely close night. We Apologize for the Inconvenience But the Toilets Don't Work unfortunately came in fourth. Tim's team had been hoping to come in seventh, but that honor went to Team Discovery Channel. In the spirit of this giving season, TDC gave Tim the pick, so our next show will feature 70s porn!

Speaking of our next show, it will not be until next year! The next two Tuesdays are Christmas and New Year's Day. Thanks to everyone for supporting the show in 2007 and special thanks for the Christmas bonus! May you all enjoy some time off with family and friends.
This is the American half of what was originally called the KPB team (they creatively changed their name every round). Their German half had to catch the redeye to Berlin.

Chuckles: Bodies Everywhere

The Baby Clowns were one of many teams that braved the Great Nor'easter of 2007 to play trivia at Chuckles. They came in seventh and chose the classic "A Christmas Story" as the theme for next week's holiday show. That seemed a little more holiday appropriate than tonight's theme of serial killers (although everyone did surprisingly well on that topic. Hmmm...) We Can Win...With Tickets! continued to rise and took sixth. The Price Is Right took a tumble in the final round and placed fifth, followed by Skirtland. The Talent Scouts returned to the money-making slots, placing third. The Lethal Amoebae were second, and Ubersmack Has a Concealed Weapon in Kelly's Pants stayed in first all four rounds. And we welcomed back new mom Lori as the bartender.

VFW: Leroy's Ladies

First there was Charlie's Angels. Now, it's Leroy's Ladies! Leroy led the Alice in Wonderland team from seventh place last week to second place this week. The only team better was Mixed Company. We're Here for the Beer placed third, followed by D&M, Chicks and Dicks and M&S (who did one of their patented fourth round flameouts). There was a tie for seventh between Portnoy's Complainers and the Belltones, so we'll have two themes for our Christmas show: hockey rules and traditional Christmas songs.
Mixed Company is celebrating Kirk's absence in this picture.
Darla, apparently, is the level-headed one of the We're Here for the Beer team.

Bubes: The Chrismoose Season Is Upon Us!

Team Discovery Channel had been leading all night, with a rare perfect score going into the final round. But The Flaming Moe-Rons (Flyers Rock the Penguins) were nipping at their toes and ended up winning by one point. The Tony Danza Slap! took the bronze, followed by their balcony-mates Spider-Pig. Last week's champs renamed themselves the Johnny Come Latelys and tied for fifth with the Take a Hike bleepheads. That meant the Astroboy-loving KRA team was seventh. They chose "construction equipment" as their theme for next week's extra-special holiday episode. Oh, and somebody won a very nice Chrismoose, too.
George and the Dragons were a friendly group of blokes from the mother country who managed to win a bunch of items from the Trashbag of Deelite, including a Saturday Night Fever t-shirt. The American pop culture questions tripped them up a bit, but they did manage to identify Margaret Thatcher on the picture round.
Sarah and Dave are either trying to indicate that the Slap came in third, or they're showing their support for George W.
The KRA team from Harrisburg claimed that they were from Keystone Rentals, but they're actually King's Recovering Alcoholics.
It was a happy coincidence that my cousin Barb and Chris were at Bube's on a Tuesday night for dinner. Hopefully they'll come back with re-enforcements.
The Ron Paul team came in eighth, and might have been able to pick a theme if they had stayed with their original answers. At least they got some albino cheesy poofs from the Trashbag of Deelite.
Phil of the $2 Whisky Sours was determined to get his picture on the blog three weeks in a row.

It is the Very Model of a Modern Major Booty Song

This YouTube clip was posted on Entertainment Weekly. It's Sir Mix-a-lot's "Baby Got Back" done as a scene from the Pirates of Penzance:

Chuckles: God Bless Us Everyone!

It was Futurama night at Cafe Chuckles, causing delight for some and consternation for others. Karen of KC was happy that she and Carol had aced all three Futurama questions, without ever seeing the program. The Price Is Right managed to stay in the lead all four rounds, winning by one question over Princess and the Ubersmack Featuring Jimm Marlin's Penn Square $10,00 Giveaway teams. Laffy Taffy surged at the end to take fourth, followed by Billy and Marge of out of the Vortex. Trish and her Bugalo Wranglers were sixth and the Lethal Amoebas were seventh. In a perky holiday mood, Jay chose "serial killers" as next week's theme. And Fred Thompson should do some campaigning in Lancaster, since We Can Win....With Tickets! are his biggest fans.

VFW: Why So Glum, Chums?

Are the B52s so sad that the Blizzard of '07 caused some teams to miss trivia? Are they sad that it took me an hour to drive from Lancaster to Lititz? No, they're sad because of their plummet from first to fifth. Their spectacular crash allowed other teams to rise to the top, primarily Mixed Company, which took home the gold. Chicks and Dicks were in second, followed by Room 2's Nutsack (see explanation below for team name) in third and D&M in fourth. A new team, the Utility Workers were shooting for seventh but got too many questions right in the last round. So Alice in Wonderland once again got to pick a theme. They're still in the holiday mood, so they chose "non-traditional Christmas songs." Time to break out your copy of "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer."
Dick, Amy and Berger relax after the show. Amy had read the trivia blog and had gotten such a kick out of a Tuesday night's team name that she formed the very first cross-venue tribute team: Room 2's Nutsack!

Bubes: John Quincy Adams Rises from the Grave

John Quincy Adams, a mostly new team, surprised the regulars and jumped from fifth to first in the last round, winning by two points over Team Flakes and When You Wish Upon a Nutsack. The Flakes sent up Tim to try to defeat the undefeated Josiah in the Captain Jack-off, but Josiah's record remains intact. The $2 Tesla Death Rays almost made the money and came in fourth, followed by the Toxic Olives. Tim of 7th Place or Bust outdid himself and came in 6th (so no 70s porn questions yet). That meant that the Tony Danza Slap came in seventh, and they chose word jumbles as their theme for next week.
I think Tim threw his neck out from the Captain Jack-off. Here he commiserates with his fellow Flakes.
That's Dee on the right, giving her modern dance interpretation of KABOOM! cereal.
In this merger-crazed world, we had another Vulcan team-meld when Bob and Randy combined with the $2 crew to become the sports-loving $2 Tesla Death Rays.
When You Wish Upon A 'Sack
The right answer you may lack...
Judy made a rare appearance and was happy to take home a can of fat-fortified Popeye© Spinach!

Chuckles: We Can Win... Theme Choice!

Steph of the Lethal Amoebas took down Fritz of Priceless in the Captain Jack-off tie-breaker for first, with Ubersmack close behind. But tonight's big story was the seventh-place finish of We Can Win....With Tickets! (Must Sing). Jason, Nick and Tom celebrate their accomplishment and chose "Futurama" as their theme. The Talent Scouts and Skirtland tied for fifth (with the Scouts accusing me of sleeping with an encyclopedia). Princess almost made the money, but made a bad last-minute answer choice. Meanwhile, Karen would much rather eat chips than dog food and Trish would much rather have her teammates go with her answers.
After the winners are announced, there is the inevitable Trivia Stampede as the hordes head out the door. This is what they miss: Deric discovered the power of fire and prepared Kelly an impromptu roasted marshmallow.

St. James: Merry Christmas to All!

For the second year in a row, I hosted a trivia show for the St. James' Mens Club Christmas party. Once again, those pretzel-eating beer-drinking yahoos had a great time. Having an especially good time was the King Bruce-ce team, which managed a come-from-behind victory in the last round. They won lottery tickets, which included a $50 prize-winner. So the team is going to use their spoils this Wednesday at the Lititz VFW and attempt a du-fecta.
The Purple Demons came in second for the second year in a row. Always a bridesmaid...
The third-place St. Francis and His Sissys missed the money by one question.
Dave and Lisa were all that remained of the Big Cheese when it was time to take pictures. I think the rest were chasing after Frank's buttery nipples.
The Breakfast Club, together again. (Not sure which one is the Jock.)
Here is the Fantastic Five, a subset of the Great Eight.
Who knew Kirk could clean up so well?
