Chuckles: Ina-God-A-David-D.A., Baby!

It was a hippy-trippy night at Chuckles as we celebrated Mother's Day with some psychedelic trivia. Ubersmack leapt fromthird to first, seven points ahead of the hard charging Three Roads. Of Pixie Stix took the bronze, only two points ahead of KCCC and B. Skirtland followed three points behind, slightly ahead of the Far-out Trippy Psychedelic Twin Roses. There was a tie for seventh between Out of the Vortex and the MoFoes, so we'll have two themes next week: state capitals and Blazing Saddles (so start eating some beans).

Three Roads attriubute their success to the two recruits in the center.

The MoFoes were asleep for the first three rounds but woke up in time for the fourth.

LukeMom and Luke missed the theme choice by one question.

Nick was distraught that his team had abandoned him. (He's also trying out for an Oscar with this emotionally-acted photo).

Karen and Carol wondered what happened to their traditional Mother's Day lasagna.

Twin Roses kept adding adjectives to to their name throughout the night.

Skirtland was missing psychedelic Lee and Kay.

Bill and Marge debated what to do with their cheesy Velveeta mashed potatoes. (Hint: Go to the barn Door tomorrow night).

The Miami Blades are really into their marshmallow fluff.

VFW: Ending the Night with a Preposition

2 Is a Preposition, Come Is a Verb was determined to get to the top this week, and they did! Only one question behind was We're Here for the Beer, who finally got out of their fourth-place position. The compact version of the B52s was in third, followed by the Chicks and Dicks, whose bellies were full of their previous winnings. Giggles and Friends placed sixth, which gave theme choice to Many Men-O-Nite. They are going with Notorious Newsmakers of the '90s. (In this case "are going with" means "have picked as their theme," not "dated.")

We're Here for the Beer had a most excellent night, since they took the silver and the Grand Prize of chocolate-covered Tastykake donuts.

Dee and John did very well, despite the absence of their B52 comrades.

Bube's: Mayo Madness Begins!

Feliz Cinco de Mayo Equipo Saco de Coquejate had a fantastic last round, all due to Nueva Nutsack Nora. Normally the scores are much closer, but they only missed two out of ten questions. The newly re-invigorated Tony Danza Slap placed second. one question ahead of the Toxic Olives. Quietly Making Noise, You Can't Fix Stupid Ole! and the Cogitators were next, followed by our theme-pickers, Half Baked and Overcooked. All of tonight's Trashbag of Deelite prizes were Latin flavored, including a miniature Mexican wrestler and (provide your own meat) taco shells.

Half Baked and Overcooked have chosen an unusual theme for next week: the number 12.

Modern Schmodern had it in the bag until the last round.

Beth and Ann had to do without the expertise of Randy tonight.

The Toxic Olives had to wait a bit, but they claimed the orchestra table.

Nanette and Jane of the Earth Girls were happy that they won a bottle of Mayo (and beat four teams.)

Could You Can't Fix Stupid win a medal two weeks in a row? Um.... no.

Number 1 PSU Fan would like to see more sports questions, as long as they aren't about basketball.

I'm not exactly sure what Justin is doing in this pic.

Mike and Dani had the Lincoln booth.

The Tony Danza Slap welcomed back Dee and David, now that PCAD class is over.

This team made a self-fulfilling prophecy when they named themselves We Have No Chance.

Recapapalooza! (No Frills Edition)

I'm running behind in my blogging, so here's a mini-recap of the entire week (in reverse order):

Chuckles:

Nearly a full house, with Skirtland taking a commanding lead in the last round. There was a three way tie between the Zombies, Hold the Cinco de Mayo and Ubersmack, so Monica, Bob and Deric went head to head. Deric's previous experience in Captain Jacking-off put him in second, with Bob in third. Making Majik was fifth and Prius was sixth. Twin Roses get next week's theme choice and they are going with psychedelic rock of the '60s. (Apparently Justin failed to understand the theme the last time they chose it).

VFW:

The B52 used their knowledge of Chevys to take home the gold, slightly ahead of the Joni-mitchell loving When I Went to Mexico, I Assumed I Might Get the Runs, But Swine Flu?!? Giggles and Friends failed in their quest for a three-peat, but still got third. Chicks and Dicks, K-B and the Chevelles were in the next three slots. Theme choice goes to D&M and they chose Lancaster County History.

Bube's:

Go Green! Our Nutsack Is Sustainable had a two-question lead over The Cogitators. The big story of the night was the bronzing of You Can't Fix Stupid. The Specter Shuffle was fourth, followed by the Toxic Olives and Sam I Am. Oil Lobbyists: Return of the Ooze get to chose the theme and the are going with Modern Art.

Recommended: American Visionary Museum

I managed to get away for the weekend and spent a couple of days in sunny Baltimore. I recommend the American Visionary Museum, which is around the bay from Inner Harbor near Federal Hill (Warning: admission is $14). You'll be seeing some goodies from there in future Trasbags of Deelite. Thanks again to Justin for filling in at Chuckles.
Our main goal of the trip was to see Baltimore singer-songwriter extraordinaire Damion Wolfe. His Pennsylvania gigs are now practically non-existent, so we brought the people to the music.
I'm not at liberty to discuss what world-class celebrity sat with us. She apparently mistook me for a papparazzi.
We were supposed to eat at an Italian restaurant called DiPasquale's (doesn't get more Italian than that) in Eastern Baltimore, but an explosion had caused a four-hour power outage. We then ate at Ammici's in Little Italy, where we had some excellent tortellini.

VFW: Earth Night!

Ben wasn't pleased with his team's performance, but they still maanged third place on a special night of trivia. To celebrate Earth Day, I upped the budget for the Trashbag of Deelite and gave out sweets galore. The sugar rush helped Giggles and Friends win for the second week in a row, followed by Chicks and Dicks and Free Tickets to the Vagina Monologues. K-B was fourth, followed by cereal killers Kelloggs and G.M. Dand and M were sixth, while the B52s get to pick next week's theme: Chevrolets.

The Brooklyn Dodgers had a rare off night.

Chicks and Dicks, hard at work changing their answers in the last round.

Karen and Bob would like me to refrain from laughing at their answer sheets.

The Misfits are looking forward to enjoying their Tastykake Kreme-filled KupKakes.

Bube's: The Land Down Under and to the Right

The Pilgrims, or, as they like to call themselves, the Dorks from York, were first-timers tonight at Bue's and vowed to come back. They enjoyed a night featuring trivia about the home of the Flight of the Conchords: New Zaaland (that's how the original Dutch spelled it, or so I'm told). The All Black Nutsacks had a great last round and bested the Toxic Olives. The Slap was only 3 points behind, followed by You Can't Fix Stupid, 3 points farther back. The defending champs, the Cogitators came in fifth, followed by Jerome's Tow Boys, while a brand new team, the Gearheads, took the coveted seventh place spot (see below).

We Like Sheep was happy that they do not have to deal with the pressure of choosing themes for three weeks in a row.

The Toxic Olives put Craig's intimate knowledge of New Zaaland to good use.

This week they were the Mid Range Tony Danza Slap, as Tim is being naughty.

Josiah does not want to be associated with these people.

The Gearheads, newcomers to the game, get to pick next week's theme and they are showing some originality by picking the color green.

Bill, captain of Jerome's Tow Boys, was determined to win something for once in his life.

The Cogitators were exiled to the back room.

They've changed their name to You Could Fix Stupid If You Dropped the Fourth Round.

Quietly Making Noise was missing the power of Janelle.

Bob looks on as Randi weeps over their picture round results.

Chuckles: Two Thirds of a Turkey

Here's an up close and personal look at tonight's winning team, Twin Roses as they deliberate their last round. They pulled off their second win in a row, with an impressive 82 points. Skirtland was only one question behind, while Prius was nipping at their heels, two points back. Of Pixe Stix and Whirlygigs led a last minute charge and placed fourth, while Too Loose and Out of the Vortex were tied for fifth. That put the Miami Blades in seventh, and they chose the best show on TV currently: Lost.

Lee caught me trying to take a candid photo of Skirtland.
